Your new role
Our websites are a key communication channel for our stakeholders. Establishing a new role to create content and ensure content alignment across our websites. The successful candidate will be the primary writer, editor and steward for all web content across the Group. The websites will have a consistent tone of voice and visual identity, use strategic messaging, optimal Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), good data / Content Management System (CMS) governance and report on analytics. Audiences will vary from general public to energy sector stakeholders. The role holder will work closely with the wider Communications Team and actively cooperate with a range of subject matter experts.
Develop and roll-out a web content strategy for the group across all websites. Devise, plan and create web content in collaboration with subject matter experts across the organisation; co-ordinating with different departments to craft or approve accurate, detailed, strong content. Devise and roll out a new process that stewards and aligns website writing across all Group websites, tailoring copy for different audiences and purposes. Co-ordinate and deliver 'writing for the web' training across the organisation. Co-ordinate, work with and support upskilling a team of Content Liaisons across the organisation. Ensure visual identity, including imagery, font, colour palette and other brand identifiers are consistently applied. Create, update and maintain a Web Style Guide and ensure that all content falls in line with this style. Ensure web content compliance with legal requirements (e.g. copyright and data protection), and accessibility guidelines (i.e. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0). Work with third party web designers to ensure a seamless integration of text content and design to effectively convey our messages. Closely collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to ensure a frictionless content transition from current website to new website. Be the 'go to' colleague for CMS queries, Information Architecture (IA) change requests and system design requirements. Be a key player in all website-based future projects.
What you'll need to succeed
5+ years of experience in a content management or User Experience (UX) writing role, preferably with experience of writing about technical subjects in easy-to-grasp language.
Bachelors' degree in journalism, English, UX, communications, creative writing, or equivalent practical experience.
Native-level written English, including idioms and current trends in writing, with strong, adaptive writing skills
Experience in writing compelling and informative content satisfying google search intent - you have SEO knowledge needed for content writing and editing;
Experience in writing web content in compliance with copyright laws, data protection (i.e. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)), and accessibility guidelines (i.e. Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0).Strong technical proficiency with the ability to effectively diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
Experience with Content Management Systems
Eagerness to understand our organisation and our role in ensuring Ireland's continued electricity supply and advancing climate change policy and implement this understanding in copy.
A professional attitude with a proven ability to work within a team environment. Strong interpersonal skills and oral communication skills. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
