We are looking for an innovative Head of Marketing Campaigns to lead the development of the Mayor’s marketing campaigns and manage the Marketing and Strategic Communications teams at City Hall.

This includes working on our most important campaigns like ‘Have A Word’, our Cannes Lion award-winning campaign focused on combatting violence against women and girls, and our new campaigns focusing on tackling London’s housing, homelessness, the cost of living crisis, and London’s air quality and climate change campaigns. This is an exciting time to join the Mayor’s External Relations team, leading a team of marketers and strategic comms specialists whose job it is to make sure Londoners know what the Mayor is doing for London and how they can get involved.

You’ll work alongside the Heads of Creative, Media and Digi Comms to deliver the marketing and creative strategy for the Mayor. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Continuing the work to develop and lead the Mayor’s strategic communications strategy, including annual planning and evaluation. To lead and manage the Marketing Campaigns and Strategic Communications teams at City Hall. These teams are responsible for the Mayor’s marketing and strategic communications across all channels. To lead the development of the Mayor’s world class integrated communications campaigns, creating innovative propositions and uniting London around the Mayor’s vision. To manage, at a senior level, marketing and communication agency services – creative, research, PR, video production, experiential and media planning including the development of shared goals to drive additional value and deliver greater impact across campaigns. To manage the central marketing budget.

Person Specification

  • Significant experience of leading communications planning across a complex organisation, and managing the delivery of that plan and the budget aligned with it Strong track record of delivering social marketing initiatives and policy/issue-based campaigns, behaviour change campaigns, and building marketing propositions for complex initiatives. Extensive experience of working with external partners and agencies on key campaigns including the development of shared goals to drive further value and deliver greater impact across campaigns. Significant in-depth knowledge and experience of working in a complex political, high-profile organisation at a senior level to manage or supervise the delivery of complex cross-organisational projects. Senior management experience and a strong track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams providing professional, strategic advice on marketing and communications campaigns.

As the Mayor’s Head of Marketing Campaigns, you will have significant impact and influence in helping to manage the Mayor’s relationship and engagement with London’s communities, businesses and Londoners as a whole.

This role will be based at City Hall, in the Royal Docks (Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
