Role Overview:

Working alongside our CEO and senior team you will play a crucial part in driving revenue within the agency as well as shaping and owning a best in class business development process for a specialist Chinese Social Media agency

Hot Pot China delivers commercial and brand success in China through culturally impactful marketing. Based in London and Shanghai we work with forward-thinking brands across fashion, luxury, beauty, fitness and sports to deliver best in class insights, strategy, campaigns and ecommerce solutions for the Chinese market.

London office, hybrid working (2 days in office, 3 remote)

Core elements of the role will be:

  • Identify growth opportunities for the agency
  • Generate new business leads for the agency
  • Qualify inbound business enquiries
  • Establish a strong network to support regional growth opportunities
  • Build strong relationships with new and existing clients
  • Identify the right avenues for prospect/client engagement
  • Work with senior agency leads on pitch process support

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Develop opportunities and initiatives for increasing new business
  • Identify/research target clients within existing and emerging sectors and liaise with key stakeholders
  • Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into new business
  • Identify and advise key stakeholders of opportunities for new business
  • Collaboratively develop opportunities that identify the new client's needs, concerns and objectives
  • Monitor and report on sales information including conversion rates, key targets, pipeline management, and budget and trend information
  • Work closely with the key stakeholders to develop existing relationships and grow revenue, arrange and participate in internal and external client
  • Act as the driving force behind the agency’s business development process and work collaboratively with other team heads to deliver growth
  • Attend business/networking functions and provide feedback and information on market trends
  • To assist in the preparation of pitches and proposals

Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of the agency/client relationship process
  • Demonstrable success in business development, within a professional services environment
  • A proven ability to leverage desk research and understand trends to pinpoint target clients and contacts with a specific need for our services
  • A firm interest in the nuances of the Chinese market as well as additional emerging markets across Asia and beyond
  • Experience in dealing with senior management and key stakeholders
  • An entrepreneurial approach to business development
  • Outstanding relationship building and people management skills - a prolific networker both online and in person
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to drive and develop pipeline opportunities
  • Understanding of the intricacies involved in complex sales and selling cycles
  • Familiarity with an online CRM/pipeline tracking system
  • Demonstration of previous accomplishment of hitting deadlines and delivering targets
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external key stakeholders
  • Communicative, persuasive and innovative thinker
  • Confident, resilient and determined


  • £30-40k base, based on experience
  • Commission on all new business closed - achieving annual goals will add £30k
