Knowledge Exchange Fellow (0.8 - 1.0FTE, fixed term until 30.4.23)

The Royal College of Art is the UK’s only entirely postgraduate institution of art and design, dedicated to teaching, research and knowledge exchange with industry. The RCA has been ranked the number one university-level institution for art and design, internationally, for the eighth consecutive year according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject, 2022.

Working as a key member of the Design Age Institute team, the KE Fellow will undertake a range of activities to ensure the insights gathered from the DAI activity are easily accessible to the public, in line with requirements of our funding. The KE Fellow will play a central role in the public facing aspects of the Institute.

A key responsibility of the role will be collation and translation of new and existing DAI outputs and insights into a variety of concise, audience-appropriate content, which may include market intelligence reports, industry briefings, public engagement material, or other audiences as identified

The KE Fellow will also contribute to the work of the Institute more broadly through market facing events, and research and dissemination activities.

You will support communication of project outcomes to a wide variety of audiences, including through public engagement, tailoring content and style to a broad range of specialist and non-specialist audiences. Working with the DAI Director and Impact Manager to create media outputs from academic material including papers, chapters, articles, interviews and presentations on the work developed at the Institute.

Supporting the Institute Director and Manger in identifying new sponsorship opportunities. Engaging with any sponsor companies, undertaking collaborative projects and contributing to working relationships to maintain a productive partnership.

The role will include preparing and submitting funding proposals for Knowledge Exchange to appropriate funders as agreed with the Institute Director these may include UK and international research & KE funders, industry partners and other funding sources, to support the Centre’s KE agenda and the post-holder’s own career development plans.

To develop productive working relationships with RCA staff in the College’s schools, other Research Centres and in its graduate incubator, InnovationRCA, developing joint projects where relevant.

Overall, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key applied KE role in a design initiative of national importance.

This is a full time, fixed term role until 30th April 2023.  We are open to discussion for this to be a 0.8 or 1.0FTE role. This post is based in Battersea with travel to other RCA campuses in Kensington and White City as and when required.
