Oxford Brookes is a leading modern institution with big ambition. We bring together high-quality teaching with courses designed for the real world, great employer links and a first-class careers service. Our mission is to broaden access to an Oxford Brookes degree and increase our reputation as a global institution.
We’re looking for two experienced and passionate senior marketing and communications specialists to join our multi-disciplined Strategic Marketing and Digital team:
- Faculty Head of Marketing and Communications for Oxford Brookes Business School, and;
- Faculty Head of Marketing and Communications for Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
We want to hear from candidates who have experience delivering marketing strategy (including market intelligence and proposition development), and who enjoy working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
We’re looking for candidates with experience in delivering effective communications strategy, as well as advertising and brand campaign development.
You will need excellent communication and time-management skills, and you’ll be able to take people with you, as a result of your collaborative approach and enthusiastic nature.
You’ll also have a good understanding of the strategic issues and challenges facing the Higher Education sector, and an empathy with academic values and priorities.
You’ll do this working closely with the Faculty Executive teams, our academic colleagues as well as within a large, friendly and multi-disciplinary marketing and digital team, to deliver a wide range of marketing interventions.
Faculty Head of Marketing and Communications for Oxford Brookes Business School
You will be joining Oxford Brookes Business School at an exciting time, full of change and innovation. You’ll be working closely with the Executive team to support the delivery of the new mission and vision. Oxford Brookes Business School provides an exciting, fast-paced environment where you will be supported and challenged to work collaboratively as we strive to make a difference to our students, our partners and wider society.
You will be working with the Executive team to devise and deliver marketing and communication interventions to support the culture change programme. You will also work directly with the Dean and Associate Dean for Strategy and Development and programme teams to bring the vision and mission to life through portfolio and programme positioning. You will take the lead on strategic marketing and communications planning as well as guide, advise and coordinate strategic support for areas such as public engagement, research and knowledge exchange and business development.
Faculty Head of Marketing and Communications for Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is the home of Philosophy, History, Criminology, Law to name a few areas of academic study, and an inquiring mind is essential for this role too. You will understand and appreciate the value of the Humanities and the Social Sciences in a time where government policy and economic imperatives are turning society away from these important areas of study. Your passion for both the disciplines, and the role more widely for Higher Education to play in society are key in the role.
You will develop a critical view of the position of our portfolio and how programmes are positioned in the market. You’ll create strategic marketing and communication opportunities to maximise the Faculty’s potential for growth and development across a number of key business areas: student recruitment, communications, public engagement, research and knowledge exchange and business development. You’ll also work closely with Faculty colleagues to design and deliver internal communications strategy and coordinate strategic support for areas such as public engagement, research and knowledge exchange and business development.
For both roles:
You will have a professional marketing qualification and/or a qualification in a discipline relevant to marketing or communications, and / or the equivalent professional experience.
You will be able to demonstrate success working in marketing and communications management, potentially within higher education or a similar environment, specifically;
● designing and delivering marketing strategy, including developing and delivering strategic portfolio and product marketing
● Developing and delivering communications strategy
● Influencing, guiding and advising colleagues of all levels, including senior leaders
● And working within a fast paced and multi-disciplinary marketing team, ideally within a matrix working environment.
