The King’s Schools comprise a family of three leading independent, co-educational boarding and day schools. Based in and around the historic city of Canterbury in Kent and a part of the Foundation of the Cathedral our three schools form an integral part of the city’s ancient history and unique culture. Whilst committed to honouring a strong tradition of innovative and high-quality education, we are at the forefront of a global agenda to develop new perceptions about independent education and committed to widening access.
The three schools in our group are The King’s School, Canterbury, one of the oldest schools in the UK, dating back to 597 AD with 870 students aged 13 to 18; Junior King’s, the preparatory school to the group, located two miles from the city centre and catering for children from nursery age to 13; and The International College, is a soft landing into boarding education for those wanting to study at Sixth Form level at a top school like King’s.
In order to reach our ambitious goals, The King’s Schools now seek an experienced and dedicated Director of External relations. The role will oversee four key functional areas: admissions, marketing, communications, and development. Reporting to the Head of The King’s School, Canterbury the post holder will form part of The King’s School’s Senior Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced strategic leader with the capacity to bring together these four critical functions and foster collaboration and consistency between teams. The postholder will ensure that the capacity, capability, and customer service ethos of all four teams will be leveraged to the benefit of The King’s Schools, and they will bring vision and creativity to the four teams’ strategic plans for their further growth and development.
Given the context for this post and the expert knowledge required, it is likely that the successful candidate will come from the world of independent schools; however, The King’s Schools are open to receiving applications from strong people and strategic leaders from other sectors.
