Head of Content & Communications - London City - Permanent - £85 + 20% bonus - Professional Services

My client is a market leading Professional Services business based in London. They operate on a global scale and are growing at a great rate.

Your new role
This role will focus on driving a positive customer experience, generating leads for the business and positioning the business as market leader through effective external communications. It is also responsible for engaging employees through internal comms. The team comprises of 10 people, covering PR, social media, internal comms and content. The Head of Communications will be an outstanding leader, advising on communications across the business, collaborating with the other senior leaders in the marketing team and helping to build a world-class marketing department that achieves outstanding results. Your role will be focussed on the main areas below:


* Support senior stakeholder messaging for national campaigns
* Oversee the development of all content, including helping to formulate overarching brand messages that can filter across channels, specialisms and regions
* Oversee the editorial planning to ensure all content is timely, relevant, engaging and aligned to business needs
* Support the development of digital first content that drives leads for the business and supports the conversion to active customers

Internal comms

* Support the senior stakeholders with all MD communications, including regular email updates and a quarterly all staff webinar
* Ensure our internal communications channels are used effectively and our communications are aligned to our key strategic objectives
* Work closely with the People & Culture Director to deliver engaging communications for a variety of initiatives, including employee engagement surveys, our Balanced Working Agreement and our Equity, Diversity & Inclusion activity


* Support the PR Manager to drive media activity that demonstrates the business as an expert in the world of work and shows that the business is a great place to work
* Ensure spokespeople are trained and are strong representatives for the business; ensure that the commentary is aligned to approved points of view
* Act as the communications lead for any issues to mitigate the risk and protect Hays' reputation in the media, on social media and with customers

Social media

* Support the team to drive all organic social media activity, including channel management and plans to grow each channel
* Ensure team is aligned with all paid social media activity to ensure audiences are targeted appropriately and effectively to achieve the best results
* Ensure paid activity to promote national marketing campaigns is scheduled, runs effectively and is optimised throughout
* Adopt a collaborative approach across the team to utilising campaign messages most effectively across social media

Management and leadership

* Manage all aspects of the comms team, including supporting with their day-to-day activity, prioritisation and longer-term planning
* Support the career development of individuals to ensure they are engaged, productive and develop their careers with the business
* Work collaboratively with the department heads as a senior team to adopt a joined up approach to marketing campaigns and support innovation and creativity across the department

* Work consultatively with all stakeholders to provide advice and guidance
* Ensure that all freelancers and agencies are managed effectively

What you'll need to succeed

* A senior comms professional, adept at driving a comms function to produce outstanding results
* Experience of both internal and external communications in a fast-paced environment
* Experience of directly managing, mentoring and coaching a team
* Used to dealing with senior stakeholders to provide comms consultancy
* Experienced dealing with the media and social media, including for issues/crisis management
* It would also be desirable if you have the following:

* Degree educated or business equivalent with marketing/communications qualifications and experience
* Experience working in a fast-paced sales environment
* Experience working in a matrix organisation, with a variety of stakeholders, including senior stakeholders
* Personable and adept at building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the media
* Experience of working collaboratively with different specialist marketing teams including advertising, web, email, CRM, data and creative
