* The council is embarking on a wide-ranging change programme, which includes strengthening engagement with the public and improving the way it communicates both internally and externally



* Central to these aims will be redesigning the way that the Communications and Campaigns Team works with Directorates to support the council's campaigns around behaviour change, enable customers to better access information and also to build the reputation of the council at a national and sub-regional level.


Your new role

Effective communication with our residents, partners, staff and stakeholders is critical to the council delivering its ambitious programme of change and improvement.

The role of Deputy Head of Communications (media and campaigns), will be central to ensuring the council is promoting its values, ambitions and achievements across a range of channels.

Key aspects of this role:

* Communicating and engaging with residents to affect behaviour change ,
* Managing the reputation of the council through media relations,
* Ensuring a consistent identity across corporate and service communication campaigns.

What you'll need to succeed

* Strategic Delivery: To raise the profile of the council by positively presenting its priorities and key messages across all traditional and digital channels (e.g., social and digital media platforms)
* Operational Management: To ensure effective and responsive media relations through the provision of information to journalists using a variety of channels
* Service development and improvement: To be responsible for the development and delivery of plans to effectively use all communications channels and platforms including web, intranet and social media as key engagement channels for council campaigns
* Communication partnership working and representation
* Performance management
* Resource management
* Corporate accountability
* Flexibility
