Product Development Manager
London

Do you have a background in beauty and cosmetics?  A leading global beauty brand are currently looking for an experienced Product Development Manager to join their team.

Responsible for the development and execution of new products, this role will ensure that product ideas briefed by the marketing team are developed and delivered in warehouse in time for launch, achieving required quality level at the right price in line with company targets.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop products briefed by the Marketing team in accordance with company’s targets
  • Project Manage all NPD briefs from concept to creation, including product, packaging, and formulation development.
  • Manage existing portfolio of SKU’s and manage the re-formulation, and re-sourcing when required.
  • Create clear briefs for suppliers and work closely with them to deliver on brief and on time.
  • Evaluate and negotiate on COGS to ensure key margin targets are met.
  • Establish and create clear CPA timelines and ensure relevant teams are aware of timings and key dates to meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for all NPD communication with suppliers including explaining projects, gathering costs, coordinating lead-times, requesting samples, sending product specifications, etc.
  • Ensure all new products have been tested, assessed, and approved by Regulatory Department in advance of order placements.
  • Lead NPD GATE meetings with relevant key stakeholders, and manage weekly meetings with UK and US teams
  • Escalate issues and delays promptly for speedy resolution. Lead risk management assessments & communication/alignment with key stake holders.
  • Maintain all NPD related information up-to-date and correctly saved for easy access for all.
  • Liaise with teams to ensure forecasts/ presentations match PO times, and create product specifications for Suppliers.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is available and housed in project file encompassing product, packaging specifications, displays, claims, regulatory checks, patent clearance etc

Essential requirements: 

  • Experience working within in beauty / cosmetics preferred
  • Strong technical background that can help drive breakthrough innovation discussions with suppliers
  • Very strong project manager with ability to handle high number of initiatives and complexities
  • Initiative to anticipate issues or decisions
  • Strong communication skills to elevate risks, manage key milestones
  • Ability to handle communication with suppliers in Asia
  • Willing to travel - Up to 10% internationally for key supplier reviews or relevant trade shows (once possible post pandemic)
