Your new role
You will support the council's corporate priorities by developing and agreeing high quality communications and campaigns plans with senior officers, the Mayor, cabinet members and partners. A key part of the role will be to raise the council's reputation and profile with external and internal stakeholders through a variety of traditional and digital channels. You will develop strong proactive relationships with journalists and specialist media outlets and manage these during times of crisis.

What you'll need to succeed

* Experience working in the public sector in a Communications position
* Up-to-date knowledge of best practice in developing and delivering campaign strategies and communications
* Excellent working knowledge of a range of communications techniques and channels
* Able to work proactively and confidently with senior staff and elected Members
* Previously managed press enquires and crisis communications
* Great written and spoken communication skills
* Ability to accurately summarise and convey complex information to a diverse audience
