Senior Communications Officer £36,000 PA - 12 months FTC


All interviews and on boarding will be held remotely and working remotely during the pandemic.
Your new role is working for Central Government organisation that reports into the Head of Communications which is part of the wider Communications team. The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for the planning and delivery of a range of communication projects and tasks. The main purpose of this work will be an internal and external communications strategy, development of communications products and resources and other communication tactics.

You will be responsible for:

* Working as part of the Communications team to develop and implement communications plans supporting the organisations current work.
* Attend relevant meetings, working groups and project boards, representing Communications to advise on strategic communication risks and opportunities
* Working with colleagues in the Communications team, lead media relations, identifying and managing emerging issues and opportunities for proactive communication
* Work closely with the Head of Communications and other team members to draft and secure approval for content developed for internal and external audiences.
* Work closely with the stakeholder engagement team to ensure a joined-up approach to content and messaging
* Monitor the effectiveness of the communications activity delivered and when required produce evaluation reports
* Carry out other general communications activities and provide communications support for other organisational priorities as required.

What you'll need to succeed:


* Experience of developing and implementing successful communications plans for complex projects as well as having experience of handling sensitive media enquiries and working with the media.
* Ability to advice, negotiate and influence colleagues at all levels and experience of working collaboratively with colleagues across different teams and functions
* Ability to develop and deliver clear, consistent and tailored messages for internal and external audiences.
* A good understanding of how to evaluate and measure communications activity and a track record of working to tight deadlines.
* Experience of working in a busy team environment independently, confidently and with initiative and good knowledge of current communications techniques and practice
