All interviews and on boarding will be held remotely and working remotely during the pandemic Your new role is working for an education organisation -which is funded by central Government.
This role reports into the Head of External Affairs which is part of the wider Communications team comprising Marketing, Communications, and the Policy engagement teams. The successful candidate will work directly with colleagues from across the organisation to support communications needs, particularly with the senior leadership team including close contact with the Chief Executive. You will build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including journalists, civil servants, and communications teams in partner organisations.
In your new role as Senior Communications & Media Manager, you will have a crucial role in raising the profile of the organisation, communicating the organisations role in a changing landscape, and telling their story to the media, stakeholders, and the public. You will be involved in proactively securing high profile, positive coverage in national, regional and sector media, as well as reactive work including reputation management as well as engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. The role will require an experienced communications professional with strong expertise in media relations; and understand the wider public agenda related to skills, social mobility and young people. The role will involve proactively securing high profile, positive coverage in national, regional and sector media, as well as reactive work including reputation management. Flawless writing skills and ability to produce engaging content to tight deadlines is a must.
The Successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the all the below: -
· 3+ years' experience leading in a busy communications team or press office
· Experience of building relationships with journalists and securing media coverage
· Experience of reputation management with strong stakeholder management skills
· A journalistic, enquiring mind and excellent ability to identify a story
· Experience scoping, planning and delivering communications strategies
· Experience of work directly with senior leaders
· Evidence of content creation that maximises impact and creates strong audience interaction
· Experience of government and policy communications
· Evidence of a strong and successful track record of working across different social media channels.
· Used to running and managing various projects with minimal supervision
· Experience of communications within Central Government or the Education Sector
· Adept at problem solving and working quickly and under pressure
· Results driven and has a creative approach in regard to campaigns and engagement strategies
· The ideal candidate will have a journalist background or at least experience of working in a busy press team
