Interim Communications Officer working for a Church Organisation based in Guildford, contract term 6-8 weeks

Your new role
The purpose of this role is to play a key operational part in implementing the communications strategy for this organisation carrying out a wide variety of tasks and supporting the wider Diocesan strategy: 'Transforming Church; Transforming Lives'. You will act in providing the day-to-day running of our website, social media and digital platforms, including generating, editing and uploading content and for enhancing its digital presence
and outreach. To work across the medium of print and video as and when required, and day-to-day management of the organisation's social media profiles.

You will be accountable to and line managed by the Head of Communications.

As this is a temporary role the skills listed below are key to your success in this position. The successful candidate MUST be able to hit the ground running from day one.

What you'll need to succeed

* At least three years of professional experience in a communications, PR, journalistic or marketing role.
* Experience of working with the media.
* Experience of managing and supporting a multi audience information based web site.
* Experience of contributing to social media channels for a group, organisation or campaign.
* Experience of managing a multiple user content management system (CMS) website.
* Experience of public relations within a faith context is desirable as this is a Church Organisation
* Experience of helping to deliver change within an organisation is also sort after
* Strong knowledge of communications, PR and Marketing best practice and the ability to apply these to a variety of situations using a pragmatic and common sense approach.
* A good understanding of the workings and priorities of print, online and broadcast media.
* Good understanding and knowledge of social media from an organisational perspective.
* It would also be desirable if you have an understanding of the Church of England and its structures or indeed an understanding of other Christian denominations and non-Christian faiths.
