The purpose of the role is to raise the profile and awareness of the charity and EB through the development of a new Content & PR function, creating high quality content and impactful newsworthy stories that reflect the brand and key messages and highlight the cause.


Client Details

DEBRA is the UK charity funding pioneering research, specialist healthcare, community support, international collaboration and best practice for EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa), a genetic condition which causes permanent wounds from painful blistering and tearing of the skin. It is little known, however numbers of people living with EB in the UK and worldwide are comparable with better known but similarly rare genetic conditions such as Motor Neurone Disease and Cystic Fibrosis


Description

The Content & PR Specialist will be responsible for the below duties:

* Identifying opportunities to create engaging and impactful content that highlights the needs of the EB community and the difficulties of the condition and reflect the charity's positioning and key messages

* Build relationships with the EB community, DEBRA's media ambassadors and the media, utilising the media intelligence software to increase awareness and understanding of EB and DEBRA and the charity's activities

* Revise current content and create a new suite of stories that is targeted to engage and inform a range of audiences including public, EB membership, research and professional healthcare audiences utilising a range of online and traditional media from articles, publications, website and social media to podcasts, blogs and video.

* Play a key role in the team-wide project of revising content for a new website

* Create PR & Content strategies and plans to achieve the charity's business goals. Manage a Content Calendar in liaison with the Digital and Editorial team

* Put in place appropriate measures for analysing, recording and reporting on brand awareness


Profile

For the PR & Content Specialist role, the desired skills set would be as below:

* Proven ability to identify a good PR story and to deliver it to the public

* At least 4 years' experience of PR and creating a wide range communication, demonstrating the skills and knowledge to manage all the above listed responsibilities

* Advanced understanding of digital communication and excellent IT skill

* Active media networks

* Ability to analyse, report and present on findings
