The duties of the Development Executive (Major Gifts) role will include:
* Managing an international portfolio of prospective major donors, cultivating relationships and soliciting gifts of primarily 6-figures and greater and work to agreed targets
* Develop stewardship plans for new donors to ensure they are kept informed of the progress and impact of their gift and further strengthen their relationship with the University
* Work with the Head of Development and Regular Giving Manager to create a pipeline for prospective major donors progessing from regular giving level
* Work closely with the Head of Development (DDAE), academic and professional services colleagues to support the development of powerful case for support statements for priority projects and activities.
* In coordination with the Head of Development, help to identify, develop and implement new opportunities for philanthropic support across the University
* Work with the Development Operations Manager to ensure the database is used most effectively for the purpose of donor management and kept up to date with donor-related activities.
* Develop new networks or build on existing ones with colleagues holding similar roles at other UK universities, in order to stay at the forefront of best practice in the sector
* Keep up to date with current best practice and trends in fundraising, particularly in Higher Education

The duties of the Development Executive (Trusts and Foundations) role will include:
* Identify and research charitable trusts and foundations whose interests align with the work of QMUL and produce persuasive, timely proposals leading to philanthropic support
* Collaborate with (senior) academic and professional services colleagues to develop new philanthropic funding opportunities for trusts, foundations and other corporate donors, developing mutually beneficial relationships
* Develop stewardship plans for donors to ensure they are kept informed of the progress and impact of their gift and further strengthen their relationship with the University
* Manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors and grant-makers, either acting as the primary point of contact for these donors or ensuring relationships are managed professionally and effectively by relevant colleagues in the University
* Work with the Head of Development (DDAE), academic and professional services colleagues to support the development of powerful case for support statements for priority projects and activities across the University
* Act as key point of liaison between DDAE and JMRO ensuring information flow and good overall collaboration
* Work with the Development Operations Manager to ensure the database is used most effectively for the purpose of donor management and kept up to date with donor-related activities.
* Develop new networks or build on existing ones with colleagues holding similar roles at other UK universities, in order to stay at the forefront of best practice in the sector
* Keep up to date with current best practice and trends in fundraising, particularly in higher education
* Have a willingness to be flexible as this role will require (infrequent) evening and weekend work and national and international travel

To be successful on application, it is expected that you will be able to demonstrate the below:
* Experience of successfully developing and managing relationships with donors and prospective donors, or similar experience of managing clients and prospective clients in a relevant field/ Experience of working with high net worth individuals and partners
* Graduate of the CASE Spring Institute in Educational Fundraising or similar fundraising qualification
* You will have experience in identifying and approaching trusts & foundation funders; delivering detailed funding proposals and conducting face to face meetings with potential funders and alumni donors
* Experience of developing tailored funding proposals
* Experience of working to and achieving performance-based metrics, such as financial and activity targets
* Experience of managing a large portfolio of prospective donors, cultivating and soliciting gifts from scratch, and developing appropriate stewardship plans for these donors
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Experience of using bespoke CRM databases to manage and record activities and actions related to fundraising or a similar business development activity
* Experience of working in an education, charity or business development environment
* Understanding of the role philanthropy plays in Higher Education
* Ability to engage and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels
* Knowledge of Data Protection legislation (including GDPR) and the Freedom of Information Act and their relevance to fundraising and alumni engagement
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Knowledge of charitable giving opportunities and their respective benefits/drawbacks
* Passion for fundraising and a commitment to Higher Education
* Flexible approach to the changing nature of the role
* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, and to undertake frequent travel within the UK and occasional overseas travel, as demanded by the role

The posts are full time and permanent. Salary will be in the range £37,411 - £44,015 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, excluding public holidays, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
