This Merseyside based client are looking for a communications specialist with an eye for a good story who is able to present it in the most impactful way possible, analysing the feedback across all channels.

Description

The key responsibilities of the News and Communications Officer will be:

*

Negotiate with the media and mitigating risks to the organisation's reputation
*

Negotiate and consulting with internal and external stakeholders to protect and manage risks to their reputation
*

Analyse complex and sensitive issues to formulate a media response
*

Proactively identify newsworthy items to promote the organisation at a regional and national level
*

Integrate digital media approaches to news coverage in co-ordination with Digital Media Officers.
* Develop briefing papers and a strategy in order to position spokespeople and the organisation effectively.


Profile

The successful News and Communications Officer will have:

* Journalism experience, media office and /or public relations experience and a relevant degree or other higher-level professional qualification

* Proven ability in protecting an organisation's reputation and enhancing its image.

* Knowledge of media law to ensure an efficient service is provided.

* Ability to work under pressure and possess qualities of tact, diplomacy and resilience.

* Working to ever changing short deadlines to meet the demands of the organisation.

* Must be able to work effectively in an environment where confidentiality is paramount and discretion essential.

* Ability to work independently
* A full, clean driving license and ability to commute in and around Merseyside
