The Marketing, Communications and Engagement Service at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) is looking for an outstanding Head of Marketing to help us ignite our brand strategy and take our creative campaigns to the next level.

This is a highly influential role. We require an exceptional candidate who’s a true original: a creative dynamo and an inspiring leader with a tidal wave of fresh ideas to help us share our transformational work with the wider world. You will be a formidable strategist with the vision to devise and deliver sector-leading and award-winning campaigns which resonate with our audiences. At the same time you will possess expert analytical skills which will lead to fresh insights and inform the future direction of our brand strategy.
The next wave of 18-year-old students who are applying for university courses right now hail from ‘Generation Z’. Born into the 21st century, they’re ‘digital natives’ and insatiable consumers of online content who cannot remember a world before social media, which has always been part of their everyday lives. Generic advertising guff and advertising waffle leaves them cold. Instead they relate to real, authentic content which is rich and deep in meaning yet easily consumable. You will lead the development of rich, dynamic content which resonates with ‘Generation Z’ as well as with our mature students, alumni and various stakeholders. You will be a gifted storyteller and conjuror of distinctive and memorable content which connects with our target audiences and makes them sit up and notice. You will be adept at delivering truly inventive campaigns which make people think, feel, laugh and cry and will then tell their friends and colleagues about it.
The successful candidate will be charged with transforming our story into a compelling vision which will enthuse and inspire everyone who comes into contact with the University, from prospective students and their families to communities, young people, business leaders, policy makers and influencers. Amidst challenging times for the sector, you will champion the life-changing benefits of higher education and the transformational nature of the UCLan experience.
