The Market Insight Manager is responsible for the creation and management of a best-in-class insight capability for the entire portfolio - providing valuable and timely information on our market, competitors and customers - in an actionable format.


Client Details

My client is a £185m turnover FTSE-250 business providing products and services to a global market. The specialise in providing technology products, IT support, connectivity and backup solutions as well as management software to institutions across the world. The Market Insight Manager is a newly created role tasked with this objective - working closely with Proposition Marketing Managers, Product Managers, off-shore delivery team and agencies to put market and customer insight at the heart of the marketing and product strategy.


Description

The Market Insight Managers key responsibilites include:



* Delivering dynamic marketplace insight to inform existing business priorities and future business development

* Building a high quality insight capability including competitor analysis, continuous and ad-hoc market research studies, optimising our internal capability and establishing a network of external providers to support delivery

* Evaluating, (refreshing), and managing a robust customer satisfaction capability to ensure we understand how customers feel about us, where we perform well and where we need to improve - long before it becomes a critical issue

* Managing the Marketing Planning function to create the annual plan, coordinate the marketing activity Business Cases, our regular reporting of progress, and post-activity reviews. Critical within this is a level of robust marketing analytics that drives improved effectiveness of marketing activity.


Profile

The Market Insight Manager will ideally display:



* Data-led insight: demonstration of distilling complex data into meaningful insight that has led an organisation into taking corrective action - whether that was a market foresight, a competitor anticipation or a piece of customer insight
* Market and Customer Insight: evidence of using both primary and secondary research, and qualitative and quantitative methodologies to deliver powerful and actionable insights
* Customer satisfaction: experience of working with established customer satisfaction methodologies to inform an organisation of the perception of their level of service delivery, and in driving corrective action as a result
* Marketing planning and effectiveness: evidence of working in a structured and organised way that adds value to a company's activities, and an aptitude for identifying and reporting in an analytical way, what activities add value, and those which may not
* Collaboration and understanding: ability to work closely with a wide variety of stakeholdersto understand their needs, and to develop strong networks with all, including managing marketing agencies effectively
* Communication and influencing: professional, presentable, dependable and self-motivated. Excellent interpersonal and team working skills. Experience of managing a small (remote?) team
* Planning and organisation: excellent understanding of marketing and project planning techniques. Ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously, accurately and according to priority
* B2B experience: whilst a background in the Education or Technology sectors is not a pre-requisite, a good understanding of B2B customers and operating in such an environment would be advantageous.
