Our client is looking for a Media and Communications Assistant to plan, implement and evaluate their activities to drive coverage and comment about the charity, raise the profile and extend the reach and impact of the campaigns.

Media and Communications Assistant - London - Permanent

* Lead on the delivery of media and communications plans to stakeholder audiences, including : health professionals; policing; local government; academics and the industry.
* Responsible for content creation including 'boilerplate' messages; standard articles and news pieces, photography, film and graphics creation; and core messages.
* Day-to-day Press Office functions of news creation, response and rebuttal, answering enquiries from the media and related stakeholders; on-call press office on a rota basis.
* Work closely with marketing colleagues and external agencies to deliver media and communications plans and messaging to amplify campaigns and reach more people.
* Monitor the communications environment and proactively identify opportunities to promote key organisational messages, suggesting appropriate responses.
* Evaluate activity against agreed plans and targets, providing a monthly report.
* Develop and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders

Communication channels relevant to the role include: print, online,broadcast, digital and social media and events.


Our client is looking for previous experience of working in an active Press Office.

Key Skills and Competencies

* A talented writer with a keen eye for detail; able to adapt style for various audiences and channels.
* Excellent written and verbal communications; able to translate complex issues in a clear and compelling way.
* Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and confident working with internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience of using media / social media data and analytical tools to improve media plans.
* Solid understanding of the UK media landscape.
* Experience and evidence of planning and delivering successful communication projects from conception to conclusion, including monitoring and evaluation of media coverage.
* Proven track record of achieving high quality and quantity of media coverage.
* Evidence of swift response to the news agenda to achieve coverage and promote organisational messages.
* Able to develop creative ideas to present campaign and brand key messages to external stakeholders.
* Experience of working with media databases.
* Experience of supporting an out of hours media service.


Experience in working in a public affairs environment or demonstration of an interest in working in this area.
