This role leads the Campaigns team in promoting competition and fair play to UK businesses. Its work leverages the regulatory tools to target businesses who could benefit from understanding more about unfair and anticompetitive practices so that they can avoid them, identify them and report them. It works closely with external partners to promote awareness of the law to both businesses and consumers. The role also has responsibility for oversight of the work of a small (3-strong) public contacts team, responding to approaches to the organisation from members of the public.
Key responsibilities are:


* To lead the strategic planning, development and implementation of compliance campaigns on competition and consumer issues in line with government communications best practice
* To identify and build productive partnerships with external partners so that they promote awareness of the law to their members and audiences through their channels and content
* To lead on advising senior colleagues and project teams in regard to effective communication strategies to increase the impact of their work
* To identify businesses as target audiences for improving compliance with the law and/or reporting potentially illegal behaviour
* To create and deliver content through internal and/or managed external agencies to convey messages to its audiences via a range of channels
* To identify the need for research and to commission, interpret and apply research to provide insights into audiences, data for evaluation and hooks for internal and external engagement
* To lead a team and develop communication and personal capability in line with best practices
* To provide a strategic lead for the Contacts Team ensuring that its work aligns with the awareness raising activity and connects external complainants with internal colleagues and functions effectively and efficiently
* To manage and deploy a significant marketing budget in an efficient and effective way (>£1million)
* To contribute to the strategic management of the Group as part of the senior management team, leading on cross-cutting workstreams
* To manage staff effectively in a way that enhances their performance and develops their potential

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate all the below: -

* Significant experience of planning and delivery of effective strategic communication campaigns
* Significant experience of leading and managing teams and budgets to drive for results which add demonstrable value to the organisation's work
* Significant experience of good stakeholder and partner engagement and impactful internal and external influencing skills
* Experience of digital communications approaches as part of a multi-channel approach to marketing
* Understanding of the context for Government communications campaigns including the Government Communications Service frameworks
* A degree in a relevant subject such as communications, journalism, public relations or an equivalent qualification, or possess full current membership of an appropriate professional body relevant to marketing or communications
* Strong line management experience
