A US legal firm has a vacancy for a Business Development Manager to join their Manchester office. The primary focus for this role is to work with the leadership to define and execute business growth objectives, identify target opportunities, develop and coordinate business development plans and work with related teams to grow the firm's business base.

In this dynamic and busy role you will be working with the leadership in the firm's Manchester office as well as having an international focus through responsibility for a key firm initiative and practice group. You will serve as a catalyst and facilitator for client expansion, targeting initiatives and utilising creativity to help implement sound business development and marketing strategies that will be the foundation for profitable growth. You will demonstrate your expertise and be providing advice, building client relationships and implementing marketing techniques on a daily basis to maximise opportunities firm wide. The Business Development Manager will work in partnership with internal colleagues to maintain all marketing materials, practice descriptions and selected matter lists, and will also act as an information conduit for tracking matters and support media relations in identifying sector specific topical issues. The successful candidate will have supervisory responsibilities for the Business Development Executive and Events Executive who are based in our Manchester office. You will provide frontline support to the partners and practice group lawyers across the key functions of Office and Practice Business Development, Office and Practice Support and Office and Practice Infrastructure.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will possess substantial relevant business development, marketing or sales related experience and have a proven project management track record and experience of developing client development and sales plans. The ideal candidate will be action-orientated and will always adapt a positive 'can-do approach' in the work they do. You must be a motivated self-starter and have confidence in taking ownership of a number of projects, with multiple time zones, including handling a large volume of time sensitive deadlines. Creativity, attention to detail and strong analytical capability are required, as the Business Development Manager will need to be able to learn quickly within a very fast-paced environment. You will need to have superior market knowledge and be confident in your ability to work independently whilst also establishing strong working relationships with the wider global business development and marketing team. Flexibility is always required along with an exceptional work ethic and willingness to learn.
