Senior Digital Marketing and Communication Officer
The University of Essex is a growing University with 15,000 students across three campuses that attracts students from over 140 different nationalities. The main campus is situated in over 200 acres of historic parkland in Colchester.
The Estates and Campus Services (ECS) teams deliver a wide range of services for the University, from catering to sports facilities, from accommodation to grounds maintenance, and from estate management to the luxury hotel, Wivenhoe House. Our teams aim to deliver a professional and seamless service to students, staff and visitors, supporting the University in the development of new facilities, the ongoing development of vibrant campus communities and optimising reinvestment to support development opportunities.
Duties of the Role
This position sits within the central ECS Marketing and Communications team that provides core marketing and communications support to the varied businesses and services in the Estates and Campus Services directorate.
The Senior Digital Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for the overall digital presence including, supporting ECS business/service areas, specific ECS digital marketing related project work and the day-to-day management and supervision of at least one direct report. You will deputise for the Head of Marketing and Communications, providing support for all other Marketing Officers and you will build strong working relationships with key stakeholders within the ECS business units, Estates management key stakeholders as well as other ECS and University personnel.
The Senior Marketing and Communications Officer will ensure effective implementation of the ECS marketing, communication and engagement plans and project work in consultation with the Head of Marketing and Communications.
Skills and qualifications required
You will have skills in researching and reporting keyword trends, competitor activity and audience behaviours and an excellent understanding of on-page optimisation and digital best practice. Familiarity with technical SEO best practice, what is typically included in a technical review and industry standard SEO tools - as well as experience implementing successful social media strategies are essential for this post. You will also fully understand content management, influencer management, community management, and paid media management to strategically manage and oversee all communication on our social platforms.
