Responsible for the overall performance of specified categories/products within the UK and internationally. To act as product and category champion and lead the development and implementation of an associated marketing strategy which aligns with business objectives and maximises growth.

Client Details

My client is a Consumer Health FMCG business with a strong portfolio of market leading brands and products. They are highly innovative and respected in the market for having many leading products with both the self care and professional care categories.


The Category Manager will be responsible for:

* Creating and developing a long term plan and strategy for development of categories

* Becoming a leader in category ranging, pricing and promotions across customer channels

* Leading category management projects to optimise ranges and related merchandising

* Working alongside customer, marketing, sales and national accounts managers to translate customer insights into strategies which drive performance

* Managing a large portfolio of different products and developing appropriate strategies for each across their PLC, including devising NPI strategies for product categories, effecting internal and external launch plans, and exit strategies for unsuccessful products

* Maximising revenue and margin of products and categories

* Determining positioning and value proposition of each product/category


The Category Manager will ideally display:

* Minimum of 3 years' of category management and 3 years' of product management

* Highly proficient in Microsoft Office

* Experience in digital is an advantage

* Proven international product and category management expertise within a retail environment e.g. OTC or distribution

* Solid knowledge of product and category management, marketing and sales principles

* Strong commercial acumen and strategic capability

* Analytical and problem solving skills

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills

* An ability to influence at all levels of the Company

* Team player and cross functional working

* Attention to detail

* Good planning and organisational skills

* Must be a self-starter and have a real passion for success and results
