Duties and Responsibilities
* To contribute to the delivery of the annual external communications plan aimed at raising the profile of several the university's colleges promoting the colleges and building on their positive reputations.
* To seek out and maximise communications and promotional opportunities to proactively raise the profile of the colleges through the media and through social media channels to support student recruitment.
* Working with colleges, to coordinate and implement the production of content for college social media channels and ensure they are utilised as effective tools for messaging.
* To identify, develop and build audiences for channels including blogs, social media in line with college and University strategies.
* To monitor the effective use of channels through research into audience needs.
* To ensure that communication activity is tailored to respond to the needs of external stakeholders using best practice at all times.
* To develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, alumni and external partners for gathering and developing stories and content with which to promote college activity.
* To liaise with the communications team to promote stories in wider channels and media.
* To act as first point of contact for media enquiries and to proactively secure media coverage to promoting the colleges using staff and student stories.
* To provide communications advice to colleagues and departments across the colleges in line with the university and college strategies.
* To contribute to the delivery of external relations projects including developing media proposals, managing media information, promoting expert comment, writing case studies, playing a supporting role in web and events planning and delivering joined-up campaigns.
* To monitor levels of press coverage using media monitoring services.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the below: -
* Experience in dealing with journalists
* Experienced in writing press releases, engaging content across several channels including print
* Ideally you will have experience of working in the Higher Education Sector
* Ideally you will have an interest in arts and culture
* Strong content writing skills able to make content into an engaging story
* Used to working with a range of stakeholder including managing the media
* Used to working to tight deadlines and working under pressure
