An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and talented senior business development professional to join a brand new venture offering specialist financial solutions in niche areas within the legal sector. The founders of the firm have a successful track record in building lending businesses and are backed by a major private equity company who have made a substantial commitment. The role will have an office base in Reading but it is envisaged that there will be considerable time spent in London.

Operating as a member of the senior management team, the Head of Legal Business Development will be expected to develop relationships with solicitors who will offer the firm's products to their clients to fund their legal fees. The individual will need to have previous experience in a legal environment with a good understanding of divorce and probate processes and the way in which these solicitor markets work. The successful candidate will lead the Business Development function, initially in both the legal matrimonial and probate markets, and will be expected to recommend and implement sales processes, including on-boarding and customer penetration and growth, and deliver agreed numbers of new business accounts and volumes across all sectors and products. The role holder will be responsible for the retention and growth of existing accounts and development of both existing and innovative new products and will enjoy a broad role encompassing all aspects of marketing including website, collateral, campaigns and branding.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of working at a senior level within or selling into the legal sector. Strong commercial awareness and a wide network in the legal sector are also essential. Totally customer focused and driven, the Head of Legal Business Development will be an independent, self-starter with good planning, organising and prioritising skills and outstanding communications skills, both verbal and written, including presentation, negotiation, objection handling and closing.
