Every day, Glasgow Life’s 3,000 passionate staff and volunteers provide the support, inspiration and opportunity for Glasgow’s citizens to access the services that matter most to them. Working across museums, the arts, music, sport, events, festivals, libraries, community facilities, and physical activity, learning and heritage programmes; the scale and reach of our activity makes a real and positive impact on the lives of Glasgow’s residents and creates unforgettable experiences for our visitors.

Glasgow Life manages an extensive portfolio of iconic and diverse venues across the city, from Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and the Riverside Museum to The Mitchell Library; the Emirates Arena; The Burrell Collection; Kelvin Hall; Glasgow Royal Concert Hall; Tramway and the Glasgow Club – Scotland’s largest health and fitness network – among many others. With more than 18 million attendances to our venues, events and festivals annually, the significance of Glasgow Life’s role within Glasgow and our commitment to delivering the very best services and opportunities to all of our audiences has never been greater.

As such, we’re looking to recruit an exceptional Head of Marketing and Communications who is results-focused and can work with drive, passion and energy to promote the vision and values of Glasgow Life.

You will advise on the strategic positioning of the organisation including managing the Glasgow Life and People Make Glasgow brands alongside providing a creative vision which balances the importance of the social impact of Glasgow Life with our commercial needs. You’ll lead the development and implementation of Glasgow Life’s marketing communications strategy, including our UK and international destination marketing activity, and work with key partner agencies to support the delivery of Glasgow’s Tourism and Visitor Plan to 2023.

Leading a large and diverse team of knowledgeable, skilled and motivated colleagues you’ll instil a high performance culture and ensure a consistent delivery of service as well as developing an engaging internal communications platform for all Glasgow life staff.

As well as being a leader in the field of marketing and communications, you’ll be a strategic thinker with excellent business judgement and the ability to step back and look at the long-term vision. You’ll have significant experience delivering across a complex multi-service product portfolio. Your people skills will be second to none and you’ll be comfortable communicating and influencing at director and board level, in addition to growing networks and building partnerships with key stakeholders across the public, private, third and academic sectors.

In return, we can offer you a role with scale, variety and complexity which is unparalleled within the marketing and communications arena, as well as a range of generous employee benefits.

At Glasgow Life we value diversity and inclusion. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from people with protected characteristics who are currently under-represented in our organisation.
