Website and Social Media Editor

The link between low income and low academic attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation. Children eligible for free school meals are less likely to get good GCSEs and go on to higher education. This makes it more likely they will struggle throughout their lives, widening social inequality. It’s a cycle that we’re determined to break.

We’re seeking a talented and driven digital communications professional to join us as our Website and Social Media Editor. This person will be responsible for planning, commissioning, producing, publishing and monitoring content on our website and social media channels. They will share inspiring stories about teachers and schools and craft an overall narrative that motivates people to get involved with our work.

The right person will be an impeccable copywriter and proofreader with experience working on both web and social content. They will be a natural storyteller and always challenge themselves to come up with brilliant ideas for content.

They will work closely with our in-house creative team to produce and refine assets – everything from copy to graphic design to video – so they must be a strong creative collaborator who can provide useful feedback. We’d love for them to have some experience of graphic design, photography and/or videography, but that’s not a requirement – what’s essential is that they know what makes for good content and are able to articulate this.

They’ll be highly organised and proactive with their content management. They’ll have the opportunity to gather and produce content, as well as to brief and support others to do so. They’ll be responsible for the quality, consistency and appropriateness of everything we publish on our website and social channels – so they’ll need to have high standards and a rigorous eye for detail. They should understand search engine optimisation and be able to use web and social analytics to measure and improve content performance.

This role would suit a talented writer and digital content expert who takes pride in getting the details right, craves creative responsibility and wants to make their mark with sector-leading content.
