Communications Officer, Salary: £35,000, London based

I am currently recruiting for a leading membership organisation located in the centre of London. The organisation is a new and exciting membership. They are looking for an energetic and ambitious communications professional to join there fast growing team This role would be ideal for a communications executive looking to laterally progress within the membership sector.

Your new role
You will be responsible for:

* Drafting and distributing approved press notices, media comments, features and letters to editors to maximise coverage in national, trade and regional outlets.
* Sourcing and editing content for the membership's monthly pages, ensuring that good quality copy is delivered to deadline and articles reflect the diversity of the membership.
* Assisting the Senior Communications Officer with press enquiries including setting up media interviews and advising staff on dealing with the media.
* Lead on responding to press enquiries in the absence of the Senior Communications Officer.
* Drafting and updating the relevant sections of the membership's website as appropriate.
* Leading the membership's social media activity in liaison with the Head of Marketing & Communications and wider Communications and Marketing team, ensuring that content is well presented, leveraged and scheduled in a timely and consistent way across channels.
* Work closely with the policy team, Senior Communications Officer, Head of Communications and Marketing to agree key messages including statements, lines to take and quotes.
* Obtain approval for quotes from relevant senior management or presidential team.

What you'll need to succeed

You will be;
Excellent written communication skills including a proven ability to produce high quality written work within short timescales.

* Experience of using Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other social media as an integral part of the communication mix to support news and media work and wider communications and marketing.
* Experience of using CMS systems to update websites.
* Experience of journalistic writing, commissioning short articles and editing magazine pages.
* Experience in turning complex information into crisp, engaging text in plain English or repurposing texts, to suit different audiences and channels Ability to plan and prioritise a busy workload with conflicting priorities.
* Ability to work in a team Demonstrate proactive and can - do attitude
