Your new role

A position has derived within the Business Development team, to cover a period of maternity leave, commencing December and for approximately 9 months, working alongside the Head of Government and Stakeholder Relations, the Public and Community Relations Manager and the Public Affairs Executive to proactively champion community engagement; acting as the first point of contact for those who have a vested interest in Bristol Airport.

As Engagement and Consultation Executive you will spend your time really getting to know what is important to our local stakeholders and communities; you will act as the first point of contact for community engagement, including consultation on future development plans.

Your role will involve monitoring news and views from local parishes and share relevant updates with colleagues to inform planning, development and communications strategy. As a communications professional you will be engaging with the community, in order to do this it is your responsibility to; act as the 'single point of contact' for communications with parish councils and other community organisations to ensure clear, consistent and timely responses. Run regular face-to-face drop-in sessions for residents as well as special events to bring the local community to BRS. Administer local community fund giving, including attendance at the quarterly Local Community Fund committee meeting. Work with the Public Relations Manager to identify opportunities where the Airport can add value and make a difference in local communities.

You will continue to produce, already established 'hyper-local' newsletter for the approx. 200 closest properties and identify new ways to engage with 'hard to reach' residents. As well as develop and deliver additional community benefits for residents, building on concessionary schemes for bus travel and car parking.

The Airport is growing fast, so you should coordinate consultation activity relating to the Draft Master Plan, future planning applications and other developments requiring community and stakeholder consultation. It will also be your responsibility to manage day-to-day enquiries and requests for information from local communities, keeping accurate records and developing FAQs and factsheets where appropriate.

What you'll need to succeed

As a communications professional, you will have experience of stakeholder communications and a good understanding of the planning process. You will need to have a good understanding of Local Government and engagement with local communities; those hard to reach communities to ensure they have a voice which is heard. Strong presentation and communication skills are essential for you to deliver professional and engaging presentations to a range of different audiences. This role is being on 9-month fixed term basis. However they also welcome applications from those looking for part-time or flexible working hours.
