Public sector focused Consultancy based in Central London.


Description

As the Business Development Manager you will be responsible:

Bid management:

* Work with the nominated Bid Leader to create and manage effective proposal strategies, ensuring communication of key selling points/differentiators, consistency of quality and timely completion and submission
* Taking a lead writing role in some bids
* Research, author and curate standard information, making it easily searchable and accessible
* Supporting Bid Teams to useful bid text submitted in previous proposals
* Submit appropriate clarification questions and monitor and share published clarification responses
* Work with the Bid Team to create, review and edit bid documents/presentations to meet specified evaluation criteria
* Upload and submit bid documentation via tender portals and monitor portals for tender outcomes, chasing if required
* Keep track of work won under procurement frameworks and collate and submit accurate and timely management information as required
* Identify and qualify suitable tenders (through scanning of tender notifications, working with partner organisations and qualifying direct approaches) and raise these with the Director Team; facilitate discussion and agreement regarding the bid decision
* Seek and share feedback from clients regarding both successful and unsuccessful bids
* Ensure lessons are learned between proposals and communicated across the company, carrying out detailed analysis to ensure the correct opportunities are progressed to maximise win rate and return on investment
* Support the development and continuous improvement of company bid process
* Ensure there is development and delivery of training sessions and workshops on the tender process and best practice
* Track, monitor and forecast spend per framework to support business planning

Contracting support

* Speak directly to client procurement teams (when directed to do so) regarding possible procurement routes and their implications
* Provide written information regarding the procurement frameworks to support the sale of work
* Support clients to complete framework documentation
* Review Project Financial and Risk Calculators (PFRCs) for proposed projects to ensure the commerciality and profitability of projects and to minimise risk. Provide feedback and recommendations to PFRC owners and escalate to Chief Executive Officer where sign off processes necessitate
* Review proposed contracts for work, marking-up changes and negotiating with client legal teams, liaising with the Chief Executive Officer where necessary
* Ensure contracts are signed and returned and chase clients for signed contracts when necessary
* Write and deliver training on commercial contracts and proposal writing

Wider business development:

* Authoring and curating template business development collateral (e.g. list of recent clients, introduction to the slide pack, standard intro paragraph)
* Supporting Directors with sales campaigns as required (for example maintaining and updating a target list and updating, managing mailshots, providing text and materials)


Profile

The successful candidate will have:

* Experience of business development in the public sector, including using procurement frameworks
* Proposal writing in a public-sector setting
* Strong writing skills
* Experience of providing quality assurance on written materials, including proposals, presentations, etc.
* Experience of collecting, analysing and reporting quantitative and qualitative management information
* Experience of successfully managing and challenging internal stakeholders to ensure correct and accurate information
* Experience of facilitating meetings and workshops
* Experience of working within a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment
* Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
* Experience of qualifying tenders, completing PQQs and completing large scale competitive tender processes
* Experience of contributing towards corporate sales and marketing strategies
* Experience of business development within a management consultancy environment
* Experience of the local government consultancy market, in either a managerial or delivery capacity


Job Offer

Competitive salary circa £45-£55k plus benefits on offer to the successful Business Development Manager in London.
