Senior e-Commerce Manager – FMCG Client-Side

A background with a major pure play or retailer e-commerce site would be ideal for this role or with an agency working with e-commerce clients.

Hard-wiring e-commerce into global brand strategy is the challenge of this exciting new role with a global giant with a portfolio of leading FMCG and consumer healthcare brands used by millions of consumers daily.  This is all about ensuring that the company’s brands are ideally positioned and ready for launch into key e-commerce channels and sites - with suitable packaging, pricing, content and marketing strategies that will drive growth in e-commerce sales alongside its traditional retail channels.  Across the world, e-commerce on pure-play e-commerce and retailer sites is growing, and our client is keen to be at the forefront of this growth.

Working with global brand, insight, packaging and R&D teams, you will develop e-commerce strategies based on consumer behaviour – embedding e-commerce thinking across the innovation development model; ensuring all innovations deliver the best consumer experience  Other responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all new brand/product launches are e-commerce ready at launch, from packaging to launch plans.
  • Developing best practices, growth models and entry models for brands/products launched via first via e-commerce channels.
  • Taking responsibility for category analysis across key e-commerce channels including financials, market share and competitive information.
  • Presenting new initiatives and influencing senior marketing, R&D, supply chain and other teamss.

Ideal Candidates

This is a new and exciting role where your skills and knowledge are more important than your specific background, although it is very likely that you will have worked for a major e-commerce site such as Amazon, Alibaba or Google or for a major retailer e-commerce site or in an e-commerce focused role with major consumer goods manufacturer.  Key skills include:

  • The ability to think creatively to address issues and identify business building ideas.
  • Having a solid grasp of the dynamics of on-line selling – the importance of consumer experience and ecommerce metrics (Visits, Conversion, Average Order Value, Repeat Rate, Sales etc.)  
  • Being comfortable working in an unstructured, fast-paced environment, willing to solve new problems and create processes.
  • Ideally a strong working knowledge of consumer goods innovation process across functions such as R&D, supply chain and packaging, etc.
