Your new company are a highly respected public sector organisation who are currently seeking an experienced Media Relations Officer to join their well-established Marketing and Communications team based in Manchester on a full-time, permanent basis.

Your new role
In your new role you will take ownership of proactive media relations in order to raise and manage the profile, work and reputation of the organisation and ensure high quality, balanced and well-informed media coverage. You will be responsible for identifying and capitalising on opportunities to promote the work of the organisation, respond to media enquiries professionally and effectively as well as forging and maintaining strong working relationships with national media at a high level. You will create high quality, engaging news stories and tailor content to ensure relevancy for various channels, audiences and outlets as well as playing a key role in the development of the organisations media plan and monitoring and evaluation of media.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role you will have prior experience in Media Relations across a range of print, online and broadcast media. You will have proven experience of developing, delivering and evaluating the effectiveness of media plans and pitching news stories to the media at a national level. You must have the credibility to work effectively with journalists on high-profile issues and a strong understanding of journalism. It is essential that you have a high standard of both written and verbal communication skills and the ability to create well-written copy using appropriate and concise language that is tailored to the relevant media and audience. You will ideally have experience of producing content for social media and be able to demonstrate your creativity on commercial acumen.
