A large international legal firm is looking for a Junior Business Development Manager to work closely with the Business Development team in its New York office to determine strategic approaches in business development, communications and media relations and to find the most effective ways to support the European practice.

The role holder will be based in the young and dynamic London office which has around 45 staff and 28 lawyers in total. You will report into the London Office Director and work with locally based lawyers and partners, including the London Managing Partner who will be a key driver and who loves empowering people to succeed. Exciting changes to the team in the US has meant that this London role is far more clearly defined, with huge potential and the Junior Business Development Manager will provide support in developing and implementing marketing plans and strategies and will be solely responsible for planning and implementing all marketing and BD initiatives for the London office. This role will not be pitch heavy and the firm is keen to recruit a pro-active marketer who is able to build relationships with law firms and other referrers in UK and Europe. Relationship management is going to be key as building the referral piece in certain jurisdictions is going to be crucial. Other responsibilities will include market research, marketing literature and directories, data management, communications, including public relations and advertising, and London office management.

The ideal candidate would have substantial experience working in a BD role in a professional services environment, preferably within a law firm, to include experience working with and supporting a business development function spread across the globe. The ideal candidate will have superior project management skills, coupled with proven writing, editing and proofreading skills. They are looking for someone who is able to represent the firm and is able to come up with new ideas and possesses the confidence to pick up the phone to clients and potential clients. The Junior Business Development Manager will also be a creative team player with a strong intellectual curiosity and an awareness of wider political, economic and development trends in the world today. Proficient systems skills are essential and experience in Interaction would be ideal.
