London, Canary Wharf: £31,500 to £45,700

Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

As social media becomes increasing important to contemporary communications, we are expanding our presence and activities to enable us to engage and connect more effectively with consumers and our wider stakeholders. Social media can provide us with unique insight into the energy market and it has become an important means of evaluating external views and awareness of our work. As Social Media and Communications Support Manager, you will develop innovative ways to harness this power and create lasting reputational benefit to Ofgem. In addition to managing our presence on channels such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, you will deliver impactful digital content and campaigns around energy transition, network regulation and price caps for consumers, opinion formers and other stakeholders; the provision of support and insight to policy teams will also be part of your remit.

Well-informed on all things digital, we expect you to have a proven track record in managing professional social media accounts and supporting consumer-facing digital campaigns. Your sound editorial judgement will ensure our communications are on-message and in keeping with our wider values, whilst your passion for community management will see you interacting with consumers in a relatable and appropriate manner. We are looking for someone whose detailed knowledge of the latest trends, tools and services in social media is complemented by the technical know-how to be able to segment audiences and effectively target our activity. Flexibility is also essential, as you will be expected to provide assistance to the wider communications team in areas such as event management and major announcement support.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym and restaurant (London location only)
