We own and represent some of the academic worlds’ best known brands and societies and are looking to appoint an Associate Director for Portfolio Marketing (Researcher & Brands) specifically for our owned and chemistry/materials science related portfolio. This is a newly created critical role. We are looking for someone who has proven analytic and strategic experience and has profound knowledge of product and portfolio marketing and who is confident interacting with senior editorial and brand stakeholders.

The Associate Director will be someone who can provide strategic and creative leadership to develop and deliver strong go-to market strategies, create compelling positioning and messaging, building thought leadership around a key portfolio of journals.

To be successful in the role it helps to have:

+ At least five years’ experience in marketing in publishing/academic environment/with societies
+ Comfort in dealing with complexity at global level, across multiple channels and brands
+ Demonstrated ability to manage a high performing, multi-location team, emphasizing collaboration and providing strategic leadership, direction and mentoring to guide the marketing staff.
+ Understand target customer needs, market trends and the competitive landscape to create a portfolio architecture aligned with the business strategy.
+ A combination of strategic and pragmatic skills, encompassing strong strategy product marketing abilities, client relationship management skills and tactical, more hands-on involvement.
+ Marketing savvy, strong communications skills, a passion for getting things done, with positive energy and confidence in presenting to audiences of different sizes and the ability to work across organisational lines and influence fellow managers.
+ Ability to think critically and react quickly and calmly in high-pressure situations
+ Smart and innovative, thinks outside the box, able to act as a change agent, challenging the status quo.
+ Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to turn findings into executable plans.
+ Ability to travel, knowledge/ familiarity with change management, agile marketing, German language and culture a plus.
