An unique opportunity has arisen for an outstanding business development and marketing specialist to join a highly regarded team within a major international law firm, working in a highly visible role, alongside the CMO and the senior MBD leadership team. The Executive Manager - Marketing & Business Development will be focused on the design and ongoing development of strategic initiatives for business acquisition.

Acting as an executer, challenger and confidant, you will offer support to the CMO in leading the global marketing function, responding to key stakeholders, fighting fires and optimising the CMO's time. You will represent the CMO's internal stakeholders, both being a sponge for information, but also representing the CMO's view as required, speak regularly with each senior member of the function, understanding key priorities and needs, and lead focus groups and individual discussions on how the function should approach new challenges and opportunities.The role will have a strong strategic focus, with the role holder looking closely at how other professional services firms are approaching marketing and business development and looking for opportunities to improve the firm's approach. You will work with global heads of marketing and business development to define key priorities for the function, ensuring that each key priority has an associated plan and tracking progress and course correcting as required, and subsequently working with each member of the global marketing leadership team to define their plan in keeping with the global priorities. The Executive Manager - Marketing & Business Development will be heavily involved with internal communications. You will be responsible for developing a communications plan and supporting materials, so that all MBD personnel are continually aware of the firm's strategy and what MBD are doing to drive its implementation and generate ROI. You will also set the agenda and help chair the regular MBD leadership meetings, ensuring that these are forward looking and action focused and also prepare presentation materials and supporting speaking notes for the chief marketing officer, to promote MBD and its work to other functions, and the rest of the firm on an ongoing basis.

The ideal candidate will be highly intelligent, decisive and mature in judgement and will possess outstanding leadership skills and the ability to inspire confidence in others. This role requires someone who has excellent writing and analytical skills, a strategic mind and high emotional intelligence. The role holder needs to be able to prepare punchy to the point e-mails and high impact presentations, whilst building strong relationships with each of the heads of marketing and business development and indeed the entire marketing and business development function. Whilst the role is extremely demanding, the Executive Manager - Marketing & Business Development will have the opportunity to work very closely with the firm's CMO and sit on the global marketing and business development leadership team, learning the skills required to be an effective leader in their own right.
