This position has full responsibility for all advisory and support marketing and business development services at practice level to the International Insurance Group.

Description

Your responsibilities as a BD Manager are:



Business Planning



* Work with the Partners to drive, challenge and execute the business plans required by each of the Insurance sub groups to develop long range development plans coupled to shorter term financial, business development and resourcing targets



* Oversee marketing and business development budgets for the Insurance Group and the individual sub-groups



* Establish and monitor an approach to measuring return on investment on marketing and business development activities







Market positioning



* Provide strategic advice and guidance to lawyers concerning how to raise profile, awareness and drive market reputation to key buyer groups



* Work alongside lawyers to identify appropriate positioning and marketing tactics including PR, legal updates, bulletins, blogs, sponsorships, seminars, client hospitality, and legal directory submissions



* Work with the Brand and Marketing services team to execute marketing tactics and ensure all key channels are used to maximise impact from relevant communications and collateral



* Ensure the Insurance Group's marketing initiatives dovetail with firmwide marketing and brand building activities







Proposition development



* Oversee horizon scanning and regular discussion of relevant market and client intelligence, sharing information with key stakeholders, proactively suggesting use of/applications with clients



* Ensure each sub-group develops compelling and competitive value propositions by industry focus and team with a particular focus on identifying products which can be taken to market



* Package and promote the sub group's expertise to the relevant partners, (and in particular the Insurance Key Account Partners), to enable cross selling of expertise internally across the Group and ultimately to our clients







Client management



* Develop business line specific client development plans for core industry focus clients (which sit outside the Insurance Key Account programme)



* Prepare partners for effective relationship and business development meetings with clients and prospects



* Support the Insurance Key Account Programme via practice group activities


Profile

Experience:



* A strong understanding of business-to-business marketing, business development and relationship management within professional services



* Evidence of good Partner management skills, ideally gained within a professional services environment



* Demonstrable understanding of business development, client development, and CRM within the legal sector



* Must be educated to graduate level and a relevant post-graduate management or marketing qualification such as an MBA, CIM or equivalent would be advantageous

* Strong operational and project management skills



* Stature and gravitas - is professional, credible and impactful and confident with persuading and influencing where appropriate



* Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
