We believe that Alexandra Park and Palace is special – it is one of the only surviving purpose-built Victorian entertainment venues in the UK. It has a rare combination of historic assets in an urban setting including 196 acres of parkland and from 2018 the reopening of some of the most significant historic spaces including the original Victorian Theatre. Alongside this sits a thriving events programme, featuring an eclectic mix of live music, sport, cultural and leisure events which welcomes over 750,000 people to more than 250 live events. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced marketing manager to join an exceptional organisation. The role will be to develop and implement strategic marketing campaigns to support our growing events calendar, the on-site leisure facilities and the re-opening of the Victorian Theatre and East Court. You will have at least 4 years' experience in marketing communications as well as extensive experience managing marketing campaigns across all channels.

Overall job purpose

To support with all marketing and communications functions across the business with emphasis on communicating Alexandra Park and Palace’s vision and values across all stakeholder groups.

Key internal  relationships

 The post holder will need to establish and maintain effective and collaborative    relationships across the organisation.

  1. Manage and develop full service marketing plans in line with objectives set by the Head of Marketing, measuring ROI for all activity and report back monthly on campaign performance against KPI’s- 25
  2. Line manage the Marketing Executive providing clear direction, management and support to achieve their aims and objectives- 15%
  3. Lead on venue B2B marketing activity to increase brand awareness and generate interest across corporate business- 15%
  4. Manage the production and distribution of Alexandra Palace’s marketing materials ensuring the presentation of a consistent brand message across all communications- 10%
  5. Brief and work with agencies and designers where required to deliver marketing activities- 10%
  6. To be responsible for Alexandra Palace’s online marketing activity ensuring that web content and 3rd party websites provide up to date and accurate information- 10%
  7. Manage client marketing requirements with support from the Marketing Executive. Activities include but are not limited to: pre-event promotion, event day branding and activation, and post event review- 10%
  8. Oversee the delivery of event day marketing ensuring that customer service teams, AP promotions, social media updates and internal liaison are managed effectively- 5%

Person Specification


Education / Qualifications / Memberships


Extensive experience in the hospitality, entertainment, leisure or live event industry in a similar role

Experience of line managing direct reports

Experience of working directly with clients and stakeholders

Experience of creating and managing marketing campaigns

Experience of managing social media

Skills and Knowledge

Excellent written English with the ability to write copy, edit and proof read

Ability to build and develop good working relationships across all stakeholder groups

Highly customer focussed

Good organisation skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload

A thorough understanding of marketing and communications practice and principles

Knowledge of print design and production

Available to work some unsocial hours including bank holidays and weekends


Degree in Marketing or equivalent qualification

CIM qualification or equivalent

Experience of working in a high profile venue

Experience of negotiating with suppliers

Experience of managing high profile and / or national campaigns

Budget management experience

Effective analytical and numerical skills including the ability to work with statistical information

Understanding of the leisure, entertainment, events and heritage sectors

An understanding of marketing strategy and planning

Knowledge of successful online marketing activity including social and mobile media


Financial responsibilities

Budget administrator - The post holder is responsible for financial administration tasks such as raising purchase orders, following set processes and procedures within organisational timescales.

People management responsibilities

Line management responsibility for the Marketing Executive

Contract Terms

This is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week on average.

The salary is £30,000 - £35,000 per annum depending on experience.
