An award winning, leading top 200 UK legal firm is now looking for a skilled and commercially focused BD professional as they move into the execution phase of growing and winning new commercial clients - a Senior Business Development Executive, reporting to the Lead BD Partner and BD Director (currently CEO).

This friendly and relationship-driven, people-centric firm is committed to growth achieved through doing more for clients, its people and the communities it serves. As part of an ambitious growth strategy the Firm is building a rapidly expanding and innovative team composed of the firm's corporate and commercial, employment, commercial litigation and commercial property teams.

In this role you will undertake desktop research on an agreed client list to assist in developing BD pursuit activities for the Enterprise team and assist in 'getting them in front of' target decision makes such as business owners, in-house counsel and C suite directors. You must have the ability to do a fast turnaround (under supervision) proposals (pitches) and capability statements and able to create a credentials database alongside the marketing team. You'll update, maintain and use the CRM system in respect of all BD activity, new contacts, leads and opportunities, arrange and support meetings with clients and potential clients, support cross practice initial meetings, and create awareness in the commercial practices of opportunities in other practice areas across the Firm.

Other related BD and support tasks as required from time to time to support the activity.

You will be tertiary education preferred, and although not essential, experience in legal or professional services BD would be highly regarded as would knowledge of the London and Herts marketplaces. You will have experience in B2B sales with 5 years in a sales or BD role or similar, an understanding of B2C concepts and how they differ from B2B and have exposure to a recognised selling approach e.g. spin selling. You'll have a proven track record of successfully meeting sales quotas if in a prior sales role and a good knowledge of relevant computer programmes e.g. CRM software, web searches and the MS office suite.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be cool-tempered and able to handle rejection, be credible and able to talk with experiential authority with partners and be able to get the attention of busy lawyers for essential BD activity, possess outstanding negotiation skills with the ability to resolve issues and address complaints and be results and deadline driven.
