The company offers two main services across Europe, System Freight and Direct Freight. System Freight is a rapid connection service, transporting cargo ranging from 32 kilograms to 2,500 kilograms. Direct Freight is an economical transit solution offering both part and full load freight services. Redhead also offers state of the art warehousing and logistics facilities including pick and pack, stock control and all documentation requirements.

Detailed Job Description

Redhead International receives enquiries and invitations to tender for road transport services in trade lanes throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe. Invitations to tender and enquiries include those from international and blue chip companies with pan European freight purchasing requirements in excess of £1million.

Consequently, the tendering process can be demanding and complex, requiring a high level of expertise to satisfy client requirements and deliver a competitive and commercially viable tender proposal.

The key function of the Head of Tender Management is to lead the Tender Management process, liaising with colleagues in other areas of the business in order to present a commercially viable and professional response to invitations to tender and RFQs, supporting the company's strategic direction and growth plans.

The role could be based at any one of Redhead's UK sites (Glasgow, Bradford, Basildon, Nuneaton), or in Dublin.

Key Responsibilities include;

Tender Management

•With consideration to the broader business strategy, review the current Tender Management processes and procedures, making recommendations for systems which improve efficiency and the quality of the end product

•Develop a structured Tender Management Programme which enables the business to be proactive and responsive to existing and potential clients

Leadership

•Working with, managing and leading a small team to ensure all tenders are presented professionally, on time and to the specification of the client

•Manage and prioritise workloads to ensure compliance with deadlines

Internal Stakeholders

•Work closely with European colleagues within the DB Schenker group, cooperating where required, on wider logistics operations

Commercial

•Have a sound understanding of Margin Expectations

•Analyse the market noting trends and commercial opportunities within the industry of which we should be aware and responsive to, in order to win profitable business

Candidate's Profile

For the role of Head of Tender Management, we are seeking a candidate who is experienced in this field, and can add value through their experience and track record of successful Tender Management in another business (or businesses).

Key Requirements include;

•Tender Management: circa 10 years + experience of managing and presenting complex tenders of significant value and complexity, within a commercial and highly competitive environment

•Freight: experience in road freight, in particular 3PL/4PL, advantageous but not essential

•IT Skills: strong systems skills, in particular with Excel and other Microsoft Office packages

•Degree: University or technical degree in Business Administration, Logistics or another relevant field - advantageous but not essential

•Commerciality: strong commercial acumen
