Lead DVLA’s communications team and make a big impact with the Agency that is in touch with Great Britain’s 45 million drivers.

About the role

As the DVLA moves through a time of significant cultural change, we’re looking for an expert to take charge of communications. It’s the perfect opportunity for a senior-level operator to influence on a huge scale. Your main focus will be to create and deliver a communications strategy that will complement and support policy and business objectives. You will lead on communicating with our enthusiastic 5,000 plus staff to drive employee engagement. Leading an established team, you will be the first person the Board turns to when they need communications advice.

About you

It’s vital that you have the knowledge, presence and gravitas to build relationships with senior colleagues across the organisation. On top of that, you’ll need a strong record of delivering programmes that drive behavioural change and be able to demonstrate robust knowledge and experience of the industry, media and wider communication and marketing landscape. You will be an inclusive leader with significant experience of driving and developing high performing teams. You will relish the opportunity to work with us and be passionate about what we do as much as we are.

About us

Our goal is to get the right drivers and vehicles taxed and on the road as simply, safely and efficiently for the public as possible.

In return you can expect a challenging and rewarding job in a fast paced environment in a great location with all the benefits the Civil Service has to offer.

For your CV and personal statement please provide detailed evidence of how you meet the requirements of the role using the job profile and job advert as a guide for your response.

Please note that any part of the Job Profile could be tested at sift/interview.

If invited to interview, this may consist of a range of question types. These could include questions about your strengths or how you would respond in any particular situation as well as specific examples of things you have done.
