Leading South West based organisation seeks PR Manager to join their growing Marketing team.

Client Details

Our client is a leading organisation with more than 80 years of success in the South West. This role will be at the forefront of their communications strategy, ensuring the proactive management of all PR related activity. This full time role will report into the Director of Communications and will be based in their Chippenham office.


Key responsibilities include:

* Own and drive proactive and reactive communications through the effective and efficient management of the press office (with appointed agencies)

* Help define the multi-year communications strategy, associated framework and plan in line with the business objectives (including identification of key publications, journalists, influencers and messages)

* Manage the PR pipeline and news calendar to capitalise on opportunities to drive a regular, timely and relevant news flow

* Own and deliver the 3/6/12 month communications plan

* Create compelling content to deliver impactful stories that engage the media proactively, in line with the company's positioning

* Develop and support spokespeople and experts through a mix of PR activities including interviews, articles, blogs, etc.

* Maintain detailed knowledge of current and emerging topics for the business and relevant sectors

* Provide guidance and support for any reputational risks including the fast and effective management of crisis situations through to completion

* Liaise with internal teams (particularly Internal Communications) to find stories and to share results, always looking to improve the way we work together

* Establish and develop relationships with key journalists, and customers, utilising these relationships to achieve results

* Ensure achievements are measurable and reported back to the business, adapting plans to reflect progress

* Keep abreast of developments and best practice in all areas of external communications, championing new, effective, ways to communicate

* Provide input into policy positions that support key business objectives

* Drive proactive and coordinated communications and engagement programmes to stakeholders and influencers

* Ensure all communication activities are coordinated externally and internally
* Liaise with the marketing team and external agencies to ensure a consistent brand experience is delivered externally as well as internally


The successful PR Manager will have:

* The ability to influence by adopting a range of styles, tools and techniques appropriate to the audience and information, including very strong writing skills and confident presentation skills
* A proven track record operating at a tactical as well as a strategic level to ensure the successful balance of longer-term objectives with short-term goals
* The ability to present sound and well-reasoned arguments to convince directors to team members, and persuade them in a way that results in agreement or behaviour change
* An understanding of how to build trust and credibility as a communications partner, and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people at all levels in, and outside, the organisation
* The ability to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations, individuals or groups
* Communications qualifications (e.g. CIPR) preferred
