Client Details

Our client is a leading South West based firm operating within the Financial Services sector who require a Business Development/Marketing professional to take the lead in developing and executing a business development growth strategy which includes new client generation, profile capitalising on new growth areas and initiatives. This newly created, full time role will report directly to the Marketing and Business Development Partner of the firm.


The Business Development Manager will support and direct the firm's BD teams, working with key stakeholders to deliver the strategy firm wide. Out client is also in the process of implementing a new CRM system with monitoring and reporting functions to provide focus to the BD activity.

Key responsibilities include:

* Working across all offices and BD teams on identifying and developing targets, whilst providing guidance on managing them
* Providing focus to the delivery and strategic direction of BD activities across the business
* Developing a marketing/business development plan, defining target clients, measuring success and growth, and providing regular reporting on progress against objectives
* Working directly with the Partners on delivering firm-wide ad-hoc BD projects
* Conducting effective competitor analysis to improve engagement with our clients
* Working with the Marketing team to analyse performance of campaigns and events to identify areas for improvement
* Taking a lead with new business proposals, researching and preparing client presentations
* Writing tender content, coordinating tender teams and document input, sourcing appropriate document production facility where appropriate
* Regular communication with all BD teams to provide support and share best practice
* Creating and maintaining a tender log - monitoring what is coming in, the status of the opportunity and evaluating the outcome
* Creating a consistent process for tenders, ensuring all proposals are aligned with the firm's branding
* Identifying and targeting prospective clients to encourage business opportunities, including promoting cross selling opportunities
* Collaborating with partners and staff to promote the use of tender templates and resources, providing guidance and training to users
* Attendance at core events, targeting who should attend and identifying prospects, managing follow up and feeding into marketing to report on ROI of events
* Training members of staff
* Measuring engagement of the CRM system
* Maintaining the CRM system to enable accurate and effective reporting
* Follow up via phone and email targeted businesses/clients upon the delivery of various marketing initiatives (specialist marketing mailshots, press releases, email shots)
* Working with the marketing team to increase internal engagement with BD function and how it works with the business


The successful Business Development Manager will have:

* A degree in Marketing and/or Business
* Previous experience working within an accountancy, banking or professional services environment with a proven track record of lead generation and proactive business development skills within a business to business organisation
* Proven experience of strong internal and external communications and ability to react quickly in a fast-paced environment is also essential
* The ability to work across various sectors with a diverse range of innovative products and services
* Strong stakeholder management with the ability to influence others
* Attention to detail and excellent verbal and written skills
* A willingness to travel between offices and to events
* Confidence when liaising with agencies and other marketing suppliers
