Job - Head of Community Activities and Well Being for a leading charity, West Sussex, £38,000, Full Time

Your new company
You will be working for a leading nationally recognised charity whose mission is to improve the lives of older people living in West Sussex. Classed as a charitable enterprise, this organisation has multiple sites spanning from Bognor Regis to Crawley and offers the elderly community a place to indulge in activities such as dancing, crafts, use of a gym, games and learning computer skills. There is also access to café facilities and external partnerships that allow for a variety of on and offsite services and activities to be delivered.

Your new role
Your new role is a very interest blend of responsibilities. You will spend up to a third of your time line managing 5 managers, who in turn have over 30 line reports themselves. You will spend time in multiple locations across Sussex in various service user centres overseeing the operational aspects of this charitable enterprise. You will also form part of the senior management team who formulate strategy for the organisation. This could involve input into budgets, revenue streams, tendering for local authority contracts and service redesign, for example. The majority of your time will be spent assessing the service user proposition that currently exists and making the necessary changes to the design of these services to ensure maximum revenue, growth and efficiency. You will be entrepreneurial in your approach, stemming from previous experiences in a commercial environment. You must have a clear marketing focus and strategy and the means and knowhow as to how to implement it, thus someone from a business development background with current marketing skills would be an ideal fit.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be comfortable in an operational management / business development and marketing environment. You must also be experienced in managing contracts (minimum £500k) and be comfortable with managing projects that generate over £1m in turnover. You will have a passion for wanting to contribute to the well-being of the local community, be an excellent communicator at all levels and be well organised. With skills in budget management, leadership and IT skills, this role will truly be varied and challenging, but very rewarding.

What you'll get in return
In return for your excellent efforts, you will receive a basic salary of £38,000, rising to £40,000 after 6 months. There is also potential for the salary to rise significantly over the coming 3 years in post. You will need to be a car owner, but can claim back 40p per mile for travel between the site locations across Sussex. (Free parking on site.) You will be allowed the benefit of flexible working, including flex hours and working from home. The organisation offers a very generous 28 days of holiday plus bank holidays, and for the right person, the support to pursue a work related qualification and or maintenance of CPD relevant to the role.
