Head of Marketing & Communications
Every child is born with the capability to imagine – bursting with curiosity, wonder and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. But children today have less time and space than ever to flex their imaginations.
The Institute of Imagination (iOi) is creating a new kind of space for imaginations to grow. A world-class cultural destination in London that puts children at its heart. A place for families to make, play, create and explore together.
To bring the Institute of Imagination to life, we’re working with experts, teachers, parents and – most important of all – children. All united by the belief that imagination matters. Our current focus is delivering our Imagination Lab programmes for families, schools, and communities, while working towards our primary goal of securing a site in London for the iOi campus.
An inspirational and diverse Board of Trustees and Advisory Board support us, and our enviable list of Patrons is packed with world-renowned experts and advisers. We are now looking for a motivated, diligent and imaginative Head of Marketing and Communications to join us to build our public presence and reputation, increase awareness amongst a wide range of stakeholders, and offer a compelling opportunity to potential funders and donors. This is an exciting, diverse, hands-on role, integrating strategic marketing communications with operational responsibilities that will help to deliver our ambitious goals for children and their families.
The job focuses on three main areas of work, which are to promote, market and secure audiences for events at the Imagination Lab, to support the fundraising effort for the capital campaign (likely to be £35m-£40m), and to develop brand awareness, the brand personality and social and digital media activities.
This role will suit an individual who shares our values and mission and who can bring flair, innovation and a strategic mind to fashion public narratives that will speak to a range of stakeholders from political decision-makers to potential customers.
We are looking for somebody who can grow with us, a creative self-starter, with enthusiasm, imagination and high levels of energy and resilience. Your experience of devising, managing, implementing and assessing marketing, PR and internal communications strategies will be critical, as is strong knowledge and experience of managing websites, social media and digital marketing. We also need somebody with the ability to project manage marketing campaigns. Previous experience in a marketing communications role that supports fundraising, or of working in a start-up environment, would be helpful, but they are not essential.
