The World Heritage Site of Stonehenge welcomes over a million visitors each year from across the world. This high profile site has significant and exciting challenges ahead. English Heritage is looking for an interim Marketing Manager to the experience and enthusiasm to reach and engage with a wide audience to help us achieve our commercial objectives.
English Heritage cares for over 400 historic monuments, buildings and sites – from world famous prehistoric sites to grand medieval castles, from Roman Forts on the edge of Empire to Cold War sites. Through these we bring the story of England to life for over 10 million visitors each year. No matter what they do and where they do it, our people play their part in protecting and presenting some of the greatest places in England for the benefit and enjoyment of our visitors.
As an experienced marketing professional you’ll have a track record of developing consumer-facing marketing strategies, based firmly on customer insight and market trends, which meet commercial objectives. As the majority of the visitors to Stonehenge are from overseas, you’ll have had experience in inbound tourism markets. A confident and capable manager you will leading the small marketing team for Stonehenge; championing the team’s expertise in creating and delivering successful marketing campaigns to achieve stretching business targets and increase brand awareness and engagement.
Stonehenge operates on an online pre-booked ticket system so you’ll need to be comfortable with analysing data from advance booking systems, be resourceful and practical; can think on your feet and solve problems quickly and effectively.
You’ll be an excellent communicator; someone who thrives on working in a collaborative manner, as close working with other colleagues across Stonehenge, the National Travel Trade Manager, Head of Site and Event Marketing and all EH departments, will be vital to the role.
