Our client is one of the leading online retail companies in the UK and they have an exciting new role for a Data Scientist with strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication

The Data Scientist will be responsible for the design, specification and delivery of an end to end data solution. They will execute the data strategy bringing together multiple large data sources for effective use across the business. You will be able to query and gain deep insights from the data giving the wider business the ability to act upon these. 

The Data Scientist will also be expected to collaborate with the internal teams across Operations, Finance and Marketing. They will also to identify, and collaborate with, stakeholders across the wider group.

  • Design and build of import / ETL processes
  • Matching multiple data sets to create single customer view
  • Use of machine learning and statistical modelling tools to generate customer insight and inform product development & marketing campaigns
  • Identifying efficiencies in the use of data across its lifecycle, reducing data redundancy, structuring data to ensure efficient use of analyst time and ensuring retained data/information provides value to the organisation and remains in-line with legitimate business and/or regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that non technical users can gain access to the data without any formal database query training.
Skills/ Experiences
  • Strong experience designing, developing and delivering information and data architectures
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of data warehouse design, logical and physical database design and challenges posed by data quality.
  • Experienced in cleansing and enriching of data
  • Able to interpret business requirements in terms of data architecture, database technology and data model design.
  • Experience with programming language such as Python, R, Scala, Java, PHP or Javascript.
  • Experience with R, SAS  or similar statistical analysis package.
  • Experience with user behaviour tracking tools like Adobe Marketing Cloud (Omniture), Google Analytics, Comscore, WebTrends etc., particularly around monitoring a conversion funnel.
  • Experience with customer segmentation, targeting and personalisation
